Bill Macomber, Founder & CEO

Bill Macomber founded Fancy Film in 2001 and leads the studio as CEO. He earned a degree in Film Studies from Wesleyan University and came up as a documentary editor before moving into finishing; around 2011 he focused Fancy on sound mix, color, and finishing, the work the studio is known for today. He built the Silver Lake campus where color, sound, review, and delivery share one building, and as the studio's business development lead he is usually the first person a production talks to, scoping the finish, matching the project to the right rooms and people, and staying on it through final delivery. Across more than 500 projects, work finished at Fancy has traveled to Sundance, SXSW, and theaters nationwide, including Beatriz at Dinner, Buena Vista Social Club: Adios, and the Marc Maron documentary Are We Good? He is also a partner at Scratchbox Studio, where he works on generative AI image and video and how it moves through professional color, sound, and delivery. He has served on numerous non-profit boards and is a former board president of the Barnsdall Art Park Foundation and the First Congregational Church / Pilgrim School. He mentors young professionals in post and runs Fancy's internship program. In all honesty, he is better known for his sourdough bread.
